In the year 2012 our Alumni Association will be 120 years old! For all of these years the Association has assisted graduates of the School of Nursing in financial need with monthly stipends, benefits for those who have serious, unreimbursed medical bills and for graduates pursuing masters’ and doctoral degrees. We also provided generous scholarship assistance for entry-level students at the School. No other alumni association can claim this distinction.

We were chartered as a corporation by the State of New York in a special 1899 act of the State Legislature and have continued our primary mission ever since. In 1995 a separate alumni organization was established by the School whose primary mission is to support the School and student scholarships.

Thus, in recent years, two different alumni organizations have been operating causing confusion among alumni due to similar names, separate mailings, look-alike pages on the web etc. However, increasing numbers of generous alumni continue to support our benefit program as they reach out to help their colleagues in need. We have no fund-raising campaigns but a wise Board of Directors monitors our limited financial resources so that we can offer assistance when needed. We continue our long tradition of being “Neighbors.”
