Distinguished Alumni Award Criteria |
At the Annual Spring Alumni Meeting, which will occur in 2008 the Thirty Second Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards will be presented. However for an award to be given, we rely on each of you to identify and nominate candidates whom you believe should receive an Alumni Award. This includes recognition of candidates at anytime in their lives. It is important for you to realize, the Alumni Association and the Awards Committee do not actively search to identify the candidates. We depend solely upon you, our alumni, to do this for all of us.
All alumni are invited to nominate a candidate who meets the general criteria and specific awards criteria (see attached). Depending on the award category, candidates can be an alumnus, non- alumnus or an organization. Self nominations are welcomed. You may nominate more than one candidate. Nominations of alumni or individuals in memoriam are also accepted. Nominations may be suggested in any of the following categories:
1. Award for a Distinguished Career in Nursing
2. Award for Nursing Education
3. Award for Nursing Practice
4. Award for Nursing Administration
5. Award for Nursing Research
6. Award for Health Policy
7. Honorary Award for the Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing
Alumni Association
8. In Memoriam for Life Time Achievement
9. Neighbor's Award
The Awards Committee makes the selection of awardees based solely on the information which you provide in the nomination packet which includes the nomination form, your candidate's resume and 3 additional letters of support. A detailed description of your candidates accomplishments is helpful to the Committee in the selection process. All documents should highlight and help to explain how your candidate meets the general and specific award criteria. Your Nomination Packet will not be returned to you.
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to honor our distinguished alumni. If you have any questions, please call me at (914)654-5494 or at home in the evenings at (516)671-9077. NOMINATIONS MUST BE RETURNED BY FEBRUARY 1, 2008.
Sincerely,
Joan Arnold '69, Chair Awards Committee
