Suggestions for Regional Alumni Clubs |
Organization: A small, enthusiastic core group should initiate this development preferably at a meeting in a private home (tea, coffee, or luncheon). |
Representation of all age groups is most desirable. Formal organization may well be limited to four major offices: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary; may be expanded for special activities. |
One or two "senior advisors" can be very helpful. |
Minimum financial commitment is wise. Connecticut has no dues but requests $2.00 donation to cover mailing costs and incidentals. |
Contributing Program: An annual event, such as, pot-luck luncheon is essential, with emphasis on friendly reunions and news of the School and Alumni Association. It should be planned a year ahead, with date announced. |
The Executive Committee should meet twice yearly for planning the luncheon or other event, and for contacts with the School and the Alumni Association. |
Speakers from either or both groups should be featured at the Annual Meeting, where literature should also be available. |
Connecticut was fortunate to have the 75th Anniversary as a focus, although the funds for the Helen Young Seminar Room had been raised before that. Our cookbook project turned up an impressive roster of talent and energy and was a basic factor in cementing the group. |
Subsequent fund raising has been on a smaller scale with informal auctions and stationery sales, but always a gift of $100.00 or more to the School. |
Minimum individual financial responsibility should not interfere with some kind of regular fund raising to benefit the School. Specific projects or objectives are most desirable. |
We are well aware that differences in geography will probably require
modifications of these guidelines. They are offered as springboard only,
with best wishes!
